Born and bred in the small town of Manangatang, Jeff Gibson (“Gibbo”) has been singing and playing guitar around country Victoria for twelve years. His own music has been inspired from the land, a down-to-earth approach which has seen Gibbo a finalist in the inaugural Australian Songwriting Association and Tamworth Songwriting competitions, and take first prize in the Big Note Song competition.
Gibbo’s travels has seen him share the stage with Jo Cammeliri, The Bad Loves, James Reign, Darrel Braithwaite, Ross Wilson, Troy Casserdaly, Mental As Anything, The Plough Boys and The Re-Mains, (to name a few!). Big show performances have included Tamworth Country Music Festival five years running, The Big Note Festival, The Ouyen Rain Dance, Wunta and Warnambool Festivals.
With his pop/folk guitar style, sweet voice, honest lyrics and infectious humour, Gibbo is a favourite for many radio stations around Australia. He has been played widely on ABC radio, and too many regional and community stations to mention! His first album, “Many Ways” started Gibbo’s ball rolling down the musical highway. His latest offering “Mortal Man” is a fine collection of tunes sure to please the most discerning ears. Both CD’s are available at the live gigs. Be sure to check out the show!
"...Gibbo has the presence of a bloke that believes what he's singing -
it's in the cut of his jib, the miles that he drives, the shake of his
hand. Combine his strong voice and confident delivery with a
mischievous sense of humour and a wide-ranging repertoire of original
and classic songs and you have a stage show that can keep a country pub
or a festival crowd enthralled.
Gibbo's recent solo album - 'Mortal Man' - has earned the praise of his
peers and a new fanbase across the country. He's combined his mastery
of pub entertainment with an incisive wit and great ear for melody.
"It's a great glimpse into the mind of a man glimpsing mortality," says
Mick Daley of country rock and roll outfit The Re-Mains. "It ain't all
sweetness and light, but that's what you'd expect from someone who's
worked and travelled as hard as Gibbo. We play the title track
occasionally as a salute to the bloke, peculiar as he is. It's a top
tune - pure country rock and roll."
